My name is Tanice Robinson, and I am a resident of Daytona Beach. I am the proud mother to my 23-year-old son, Tyrone Bush.
Over the past couple of years, I have been contemplating homeownership. I first learned about the Prosperity and Homes Bring Hope programs through my friend, Ronnie Mack. Last year, he purchased his brand-new home built by Homes Bring Hope. I reached out to learn more about Homes Bring Hope and learned that the first step was to enroll in the Prosperity program, to prepare to become homebuyer-ready.
Prosperity works one-on-one with those seeking to become homeowners in 32114. My employer, Daytona State College, is also a partner of the Prosperity program and has provided support to me since starting this journey. I am the senior staff assistant for the Upward Bound program, which exposes high school students to college tours and other culturally enriching activities.
I have really enjoyed my Prosperity experience so far. I have received essential support from their staff, including help with financial literacy, goal setting and grocery assistance. In September, I was invited to participate in their "Turning Over a New Leaf" fall conference held at Bank of America. There, we met local business leaders and received tips on the homebuying process.
Through the referral of their director, I completed a first-time homebuyer class in my first step to making my dream of homeownership a reality. For Thanksgiving, they gave my family a Thanksgiving food box which contained a turkey and all the fixings.
I want to encourage others seeking to advance in their lives to not hesitate in asking for help. I believe it is more important to give than to receive. My family and I give back to the community by volunteering our time and utilizing the talents bestowed upon me by God to help serve others.
