Palm Terrace fifth-grader loves building robots - Friday, December 1, 2023

My name is Walter, and I am in the fifth grade at Palm Terrace Elementary School. I just joined a new tutoring program called the Lemerand Center of Excellence

and I really like going there. My favorite part of LCE is on Wednesdays we get to do robotics and coding. I got to build a robot out of Legos and learned how to code on the laptops to get the robot to move. I just really like to get in there and build something. Robotics is new for me, and I am part of the LCE robotics team.

At LCE they say that I am a leader and to me that means “I am somebody.” I try to listen, and I am open to working with other students and talking things out.

When I am older, I would like to go to college and be a football player. My favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys. If I can’t be a football player, then I would like to get into a gaming competition and win lots of money.

My favorite Christmas tradition is that on Christmas Eve we get to open one present before we go to bed and then on Christmas morning, we get to open more presents. I have a big family, and I love that we get to do different stuff together, like one time we went to Universal. My wish list for Christmas includes a PlayStation gift card, a new bike, and a Lego robotics kit so I can keep working on robotics at home.
